For checking hardware you may use the csd tool (on your own risk) cmdline :> csd or via dialpad *#*#310#*#*

There is at least one case where a reboot did not remove the speaker issue but taking the battery off from the phone for a moment did help.

Both from microSD and the default sounds are without sound. Music or Video is the same. I tried listening in the sound settings to the default ones and nothing.
